Itinerary Introduction

Santander is another wonderful city like its neighbouring city, Bilbao (2 hours away by coach). Santander is full of lovely beaches and incredible food (pinxtos) which means you can hop from place to place having a drink and a bite in each. The centre is a 20 minute public bus journey away from Santander airport.

Playa de los Peligros - beach for water activities with great sand

Playa Los Peligros, Santander, Cantabria, Spain
This is a beautiful beach, one of many of Santander's soft sandy beaches yet this one has a fair share of water activities taking place without it being crowded on the beach itself.

Day 3

11:00 - 13:00

Palacio de la Magdalena - Royal's summer royal palace

Av de la Reina Victoria, 39005 Santander, Cantabria, Spain
"The Palace of La Magdalena is the most emblematic building of the city of Santander and one of the most prominent examples of civil architecture in northern Spain. With a majestic landscape, it is situated at the highest point of the Peninsula bearing the same name.... The monarchs and their children spent their summers between 1913 and 1930 in Cantabria. Apparently, it was the Queen, called Ena in the privacy of her family, who especially enjoyed the landscape and the architecture, very close to those of her native England: writers and poets evoked her homesickness for the Isle of Wight and they actually associated it with her stay in Santander and her subsequent exile"
