The city walls, Muralha Fernandina, were built when the city became overgrown and too big for the old Roman walls. They are worth a visit.
A walk away can be found Jardins do Palácio de Cristal (Crystal Palace Gardens). These beautiful gardens have various resident animals and birds that are free to roam. Check out the park's collection of sculptures. At times book fairs and other activities are hosted within the Gardens.
Take a seat and a rest and enjoy the view of the city, of Gaia and of the river and ocean beyond… Nothing better!
