Along the Rua das Flores, you'll discover a wide and beautiful avenue filled with cafés, stores and hotels built in a traditional style. You'll also encounter some eye-catching palaces.
Don't miss Jardim Infante D. Henrique, a beautiful square and garden to be found at the entrance to Ribeira. Here, you'll find the Ferreira Borges Market and the incredible Palácio da Bolsa (palace).
The market is renowned for its metallic architecture and as a cultural space. It in fact never fulfilled its original mission as a market. The market houses book fairs, concerts and exhibitions along with a restaurant.
Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace) is a 19th century palace designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Neoclassical palace is known for its art and architecture and its magnificent interior. The Arab room, the highlight, is still used as a reception hall for various personalities and heads of state that pass through the city.
