Tórshavn is the capital city of the Faroe Islands and is home to around 20,000 people. The parliament and government is situated in Tórshavn, including the prime minister's office.
Of particular interest to tourists is Tinganes - which is the old part of town. Houses here are generally wooden with grass roofs - and date back up to 500 years.
There's also a harbour to walk around, as well as lots of small passage ways passing between the houses to wander. There's a historical museum as well as an art museum - Listasavn Føroya.
There are a number of bars and restaurants that should cater for everyone - I recommend taking a walk around the harbour area and nearby streets to explore. Seafood lovers will not be disappointed.
