The Vršič Pass is an excellent spot to park your car and do some exploring of the Julian Alps. There are numerous trails to follow around the summits with many spectacular panoramas in this area.
The Julian Alps is a UNESCO biosphere site. From this location there are stunning views of Austria and Italy. The mountain range forms a section of the Southern Limestone Alps. It covers 4,400km2 of land over Italy and Slovenia and is a large part of Triglav National Park.
From the car park, there are a number of good trails. The 5 km there-and-back trail to Slemenova Špica (1,911 metres) is very popular, as is the 3 km loop trail around Vršič (1,737 metres).
