This sweeping pass connects the Sava and Soča Valleys. When driving between Kranjska Gora and Bovec you will cross between the two. The road is a series of steep switchbacks that ascends up into the mountains but once you reach the top, the views are more than worth it.
It is 1,611 metres tall and is an excellent place to stop and walk around the Julian Alps. It crosses the path of the Russian Road built in the 19th century for military purposes. Visit the wooden Russian Chapel along the roadside before the pass.
