For me, Assynt is the most spectacular area in Scotland and a place I return to often.
As you continue north, there are sights to behold around every corner with stunning mountains and lochs. The most famous mountain in the area is the mighty Suilven. Like Stac Pollaidh, it may be small in height but the way in which it dominates the landscape is spellbinding.
As you head towards Lochinver and Achmelvich Beach, many stop at the castle ruins of Ardvreck Castle on Loch Assynt. Lying in the shadow of the mountain Quinag, the castle is another popular Instagram spot!
