Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar (it's not a cathedral although everybody calls it the cathedral of the sea) dates back to the fourteenth century. It became for visitors thanks to a novel by the same name. It's quite unique because it was built with the effort of the inhabitants of the Ribera quarter.
In the square in front of the church there are several outdoor bars where you can sit and take a break contemplating the magnificent Catalan Gothic façade.
Visiting hours:
Monday to Saturday: 9 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 8:30 pm
Sundays: 10 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm
