Located downtown, Ile de la Cite is a tiny island featuring a few top Paris landmarks. These are:
- Notre Dame Cathedral, whose twin towers still define the downtown skyline despite the damage the structure suffered from a 2019 fire
- Sainte Chapelle, boasting exceptional stained-glass windows
- Conciergerie, a former royal palace and a prison where Marie-Antoinette spent her final days
- Pont Neuf (New Bridge), which is, ironically, the oldest existing Paris bridge
Also, Crypte Archaeologic, facing Notre Dame, exhibits remains of Gallo-Roman and medieval periods.
