The majority of the 41 Broadway theatres on Manhattan are located in an area know as the Theater District (strictly, a sub-district). Each theatre has at least 500 seats. The majority of shows playing on Broadway are musicals. Nearly 15 million seats were sold in the year to 2019 - grossing $1.8 billion for the industry. As of the time of writing (September 2020), currently running shows include: To Kill a Mockingbird, Hamilton, Wicked, Moulin Rouge, The Phantom of The Opera, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, Ain't Too Proud, Aladdin, Tina, Come From Away, Hadestown, Dear Evan Hansen, Chicago, Mean Girls, Mrs Doubtfire, Company, Jagged Little Pill, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Girl from the North Country and Diana.
