The Buddha statue is a major attraction in and of itself, and it is the primary reason that hundreds of people visit Bahirawakanda on a regular basis. The monument stands at nearly 88 meters tall, making it one of the tallest Buddha statues in all of South Asia. It is so huge that it can be seen from almost anywhere in Kandy City. The statue sits in Nirvana stance, keeping a silent watch over the surrounding surroundings.
